How We Screen Pros
Every trade professional listed on ServiceFind.Center goes through our screening process before we match them with homeowners. Here is exactly what that means.
What screening means — and what it does not
Screening reduces risk — it does not eliminate it. We verify licenses and insurance at onboarding, but we are not a government licensing body and cannot guarantee every professional's ongoing performance. If you have a problem with a pro, report it to us and we will investigate.
State License Verification
Before a pro is listed, we require their state contractor license number. We cross-reference this against publicly available state licensing board databases to confirm the license is active and in good standing.
Proof of Insurance
Pros must provide a current certificate of general liability insurance. We do not list uninsured contractors. Insurance information is reviewed at onboarding and periodically updated.
Service History Review
We review available professional history, including public complaints, disciplinary actions from licensing boards, or BBB records. Pros with unresolved consumer complaints are not listed.
Code Compliance Standards
Pros confirm they perform work in compliance with local building codes and permit requirements for their trade. Permits and code compliance are the homeowner's best protection against future liability.
Ongoing Accountability
Homeowners can submit feedback after a job. If we receive a credible complaint — pricing pressure, incomplete work, or misrepresentation — we investigate and may suspend or remove the pro.
Had a problem with a pro?
If a pro acted dishonestly, pressured you into unnecessary work, or misrepresented pricing — we want to know. Credible reports result in investigation and possible removal.
